Music Illuminates Hope: A Tribute to Strauss’s Legacy of Unity
Der wienerischste aller Komponisten ist sicher Johann Strauss Sohn.
In diesem Jahr feiern wir seinen 200. Geburtstag. Er konnte die Menschen mit seiner Musik zum Tanzen und Frohsinn bringen.
Was in der Oper Liebe, Eifersucht, Macht Geld, Tod und Schicksal ist, drückt er in seinen Operetten durch Freude, Spiel, Verwechslung, Charme, Humor und Tanz aus. Es sind Komödien, die den Zuhörern Freude bereiten sollen.
Er reiste mit seinem Orchester, das er vom Vater übernommen hatte, durch ganz Europa. Diese internationale Bekanntheit durch seine Konzerte ist heute auch der Hit der ORF Übertragungen des Neujahrskonzertes. Die Reichweite ist durch die neuen Medien allerdings weltumspannend.
So soll das Motto des Festivals Freude an Musik und Bewegung aber auch Zuversicht für die Zukunft sein.
Der Reinerlös des Festivals “Musik erhellt die Hoffnung” wird von der Organisation UN-WG Frauen und Kindern in Not zur Verfügung gestellt.
Die Bedingungen für alleinstehende Frauen mit Kindern sind in vielen Ländern katastrophal. Wir glauben an die friedensstiftende Kraft der Musik. Bringen wir Menschen dazu miteinander zu musizieren dann tragen wir zur Versöhnung bei.

The most Viennese of all composers is certainly Johann Strauss Jr.
This year, we celebrate his 200th birthday. With his music, he was able to make people dance and bring them joy.
What opera expresses through love, jealousy, power, money, death, and fate, he conveys in his operettas through joy, playfulness, mistaken identities, charm, humor, and dance. These are comedies meant to bring happiness to the audience.
He traveled across Europe with the orchestra he had inherited from his father. This international recognition through his concerts is now also reflected in the ORF broadcasts of the New Year’s Concert. However, thanks to modern media, its reach is now global.
Thus, the festival’s motto should be the joy of music and movement, but also confidence in the future.
The net proceeds of the festival “Music Brightens Hope” will be donated by the UN-WG organization to support women and children in need. The conditions for single mothers in many countries are catastrophic. We believe in the peace-building power of music. If we encourage people to make music together, we contribute to reconciliation.
