Viel Erfolg für das Strauss Charity Festival!
Wien ist die Welthauptstadt der Musik. Deshalb feiern wir heuer 200 Jahre Johann Strauss (Sohn). Schon zu Silvester – beim Neujahrskonzert mit Riccardo Muti – und beim Silvesterpfad mit dem Star-Percussionisten Martin Grubinger startete das Johann-Strauss-Jahr 2025 hochkarätig und publikumswirksam. Seither gibt es jede Woche eine große Strauss-Premiere bzw. Neuproduktion, insgesamt werden es rund 65 sein. Künstlerinnen und Künstler aus 10 verschiedenen Genres – von Zirkus über Pop bis Lichtinstallation – erweisen dem „ersten Popstar der Musikgeschichte“ ihren Tribut. Darüber hinaus ist der weltberühmte Wiener Walzerklang heuer nicht „nur“ in den vertrauten Opern- und Konzerthäusern wie etwa dem MusikTheater an der Wien oder dem Wiener Konzerthaus zu erleben sein, sondern auch an überraschenden Orten wie beim Donauinselfest, auf dem Riesenrad oder im Dianabad. Und seit Juni tingelt die Strauss-Operette „Indigo und die 23 Räuber*innen“ durch alle Wiener Bezirke. Motto: Johann Strauss für alle Wienerinnen und Wiener!
Eine besondere Facette im Jubiläumsjahr bildet das Strauss Charity Arts Festival, das vom 26. bis 30. Juli stattfindet. Diese Veranstaltung wird von der Gesellschaft zur Förderung des Kultur- und Bildungsaustausches Sonata Wien und dem Europäischen Musikerverein in Kooperation mit mehreren Partnern wie der UN Women’s Guild und der C. Bechstein Wien GmbH organisiert. Es werden rund 1.000 Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmer aus dem In- und Ausland erwartet. Der Spendenerlös geht an die UN Women’s Guild und kommt karitativen Frauen- und Kinderprojekten zugute.

Wishing the Strauss Charity Arts Festival Great Success!
Vienna is the world capital of music, and this year we are celebrating the 200th anniversary of Johann Strauss (son). The Johann Strauss Year 2025 began in spectacular fashion on New Year’s Eve—with Riccardo Muti conducting the New Year’s Concert—and at the New Year’s Eve Trail featuring star percussionist Martin Grubinger. Since then, a new Strauss premiere or production has been unveiled every week, totaling around 65 throughout the year. Artists from ten different genres—from circus and pop to light installations—are paying tribute to the “first pop star in music history.”
Moreover, the world-famous Viennese waltz will not only be heard in renowned opera and concert venues like the MusikTheater an der Wien and the Vienna Konzerthaus but also in unexpected locations such as the Donauinselfest, on the Giant Ferris Wheel, or at the Dianabad. Since June, the Strauss operetta Indigo und die 23 Räuberinnen* (Indigo and the 23 Robbers) has been touring all of Vienna’s districts under the motto: Johann Strauss for all Viennese!
A special highlight of this anniversary year is the Strauss Charity Arts Festival, taking place from July 26 to 30. Organized by the Society for the Promotion of Cultural and Educational Exchange Sonata Wien and the European Musicians’ Association, in collaboration with partners including the UN Women’s Guild and C. Bechstein Wien GmbH, the festival is expected to welcome around 1,000 participants from Austria and abroad. All proceeds will be donated to the UN Women’s Guild, supporting charitable projects for women and children.
